VP'S ENJOY PLEASANT CONDITIONS FOR THEIR AUTUMN GOLF OUTING AT NEWBIGGIN.
The 28th SNCC VP 2010 golf outing took place at Newbiggin on Sunday 13th October. Chilly to start at 1140, after the traditional bacon roll & coffee, & at the end c 1610, 14 set out in 2x3 & 2x4 balls.
Good wishes were offered by those unable to be there notably Graham & Viv Bruce, Paul Carding & Andy Reeman in Portugal, Bill Kidd, Nigel Campbell, James Southern, Ru Fletcher, Phil Ewart, John Ruddick & Simon Birtwisle.
After celebrating Nick Gandy's 50th birthday, leading off were James Brown, Chris Harker & Peter Crane. They were followed by Garrie Forster, David Bolam & Craig Bolam. Third away were the 4 ball of George Gray, Sam Ewart, Alan Fletcher & Richard Miller with Colin Belfield, Mark Dolder, Alan Dickinson & DDS last out.
The day warmed up, there was very little breeze, the fairways & greens were in good order, the course had drained well given the rain of recent days.
Our winners with 84 points were Garrie, David & Craig. George, Sam, Alan & Richard amassed 81, James Chris & Peter totalled 80 & Colin, Mark, Alan & Duncan, 71.
The warming post round soup & sandwich concluded a most convivial day. Grateful thanks, as ever, were given to Chris for organising the venue & sourcing the golf ball prizes, to those who made themselves available at short notice & to everyone for being there, a proper SNCC day.
The Spring Outing will be on Sun 23rd March 2025 at Dunstanburgh, details to be confirmed in due course. We hope we can attract 18 (6x3b) to play at this lovely location.
