SALUTE PATRICK HATCHER !! - WEST TYNE LEAGUE DIVISION 1 'ALL ROUNDER OF THE YEAR 2022'

24th Oct 2022

We are delighted to report that on Friday 21st October at the WTL Annual Dinner & Awards night, SNCC 1864 X1 Captain, Patrick Hatcher was voted "Division 1 All Rounder of the Year".

A 5th place finish for the 1864's with 10 wins, 5 in succession in May & June, 17 juniors given opportunities to develop & flourishing under his guidance, Patrick was involved in 9 crucial partnerships for the 5th (4), 6th (1), 7th (4) & 8th (3), scoring 365 runs at 28.08 with a top score of 51* (8x4,1x6) against Riding Mill (h), finishing many innings with 6's!

In 108.1 overs Patrick took 33 wickets at 11.00 to be third in the WTL Div 1 bowling averages. A best of 6-32 against Stamfordham (a) included a hat trick or should that be a 'Pat trick' ! Often opening the attack but also in the closing overs, straight & full, with just enough movement off the wicket, many batters were bowled as pressure was created.

14 catches & 2 run outs complete the picture of an excellent all-round season epitomised by 2 run wins at Stamfordham in June & Newton in August. Defending 145 at Stamfordham, Patrick's hat trick in the 34th over paved the way for a very tense 2-run win. Away at Newton another narrow, 2 run win was largely brought about by an undefeated partnership of 73* between Ben Sid (85*) & Patrick (26*) followed by his 5-26 & Josephine's 3-29.

Josephine & Patrick were invited to play for the West Tyne League X1 v the NE Mid-Week League X1 at Mitford on 7th August where both performed well taking two wickets each.

We must continue!

Duncan.
