The Hill won the toss & chose to field on a sunny day at Roseworth Terrace but with rain forecast later.

A blistering start saw the score on 52 after 4 overs as both Ru & Alex C punished mainly short of a length deliveries for 12 x 4. Poxon finished Robson's third over, as he damaged his bowling hand, & with his third delivery Ru 22, 15b, 5x4) edged to w/k R Mustard, 60-1.

In the 7th Alex C (40, 23b, 9x4) was mortified to mistime Poxon to McGregor at mid on, 67-2. Poxon (rm) & Diip (ob) bowled in tandem for 13 overs by which time the score had risen to 117 in the 17th, Nick Tomlinson 25* Nathan Gough 26*, before P Jones (sla) began a spell from the Grove.

Nick guiding past gully & using his feet to the spinners & Nathan driving down the ground or over mid wicket. Nathan's 50 came up with a 6 to mid wicket off Jones in the 25th over. Drinks were taken after 27 overs then in the 29th Nick (46, 69b, 5x4) sweeping Jones left arm around, was adjudged lbw, 178-3.

Angus Southern stroked & cut 6 off the back foot on the offside in the 31st &, in company with Nathan, & the pair raised the total to 226 in Poxon's 11th over, the 39th, when Nathan (82, 88b, 8x4, 2x6) driving, was bowled, 4 down. Nathan, another outstanding, chanceless innings for his team.

The rain arrived in over 41 but after a 30 minute delay & a reduction to 101 overs (53/48) play resumed with a flurry of boundaries & positive intent from Angus & Alex Weetman. Angus reached a fluent & deserved 50 in the 45th over glancing to third man & when the declaration came after 46 overs, the total had risen to 282 Angus 55* ( 59b, 7x4) & Alex W (21*, 19b, 2x4).

Sadly the rain returned heavily at 1552 & although several subsequent inspections were made, the game was abandoned at 1730.

The Bulls remain second in NEPL Division 2, 3 points behind leaders Hetton Lyons after 11 games, halfway through the season.

Onward to Sat 13th  July SNCC v Gateshead Fell (a) 1200, w/l/d 105 overs.  We hope to see you there.
