        BULLS LATE ORDER ASSAULT SETS UP T20 WIN AT TYNEMOUTH.

Tynemouth 132ao (19.1o) Matthew Brown 21, Matthew Kimmitt 13, Josh Moors 15, Joe Snowdon 15, Ben Debnam 16,Fredie Harrison 24:Tom Rogers 3-26, Sean Tindale 2-15, Will Alexander 0-24, Oli McGee 2-20, Simon Birtwisle 0-18, Lee Crozier 3-24.

 

SNCC won by 11 runs- 6 points, Tynemouth 0.

 

On a still rain affected surface the Bulls were invited to bat. Sol (0) hit a full toss back to the bowler Gourley in the first over. In the third, Hewi (7) hit to backward point where Hay dived forward to hold a good catch also off Gourley, 14-2.

 

Sean (6) edged behind off Gourley in the 5th 23-3. Birty & Tom put together a handy partnership of 51 when Simon (20, 33b,1x4) was run out at the non strikers end, returning for 2, but not able to beat Brown's accurate throw, 74-4.

 

In over 13 Adam (2) hoisted Brown high to be caught by Debnam & next ball Nathan (0) edged behind, 81-6. Tom (45,35b,4x4,1x6) had batted well but at 100 in the 17th he launched Gourley to deep cover where Harrison took the catch, 7 down.

 

Overs 18, 19 & 20 belonged to David Edwards & Oli Mcgee as the pair hit 43. David (28, 21b, 3x4,1x6) & Oli 19* (11b, 1x4, 2x6). Over 19 went for 21 as David, now with a runner having tweaked a hamstring, stroked 6,4,2,4,4. In the last Oli slog swept consecutive 6's from Harrison's first two deliveries, into the Pavilion.  David was caught at deep cover by Thorburn off Harrison & Will (0) was lbw with one ball remaining; extras 16 so 143-9 at the close.

 

Tynemouth started well, 10 off the first as edges off Tom raced to the boundary. But at 25 in the 5th Kimmett (13) was caught at point by Hewi off Sean. 42-2 in the 6th as Moors (15), having hit 3x4 off Will pitching too short, hit high to long on where Oli took the catch.

 

Brown (21) hit Birty for 6 but in the next was unhappy to be adjudged lbw, sweeping Oli, 54-3 in the 9th. Bowling changes saw Lee enter the attack & in the 13th Debnam (16) was lbw caught on the crease, a not untypical Crozier dismissal, 82-4. 84-5 as Snowdon (15) was caught by Lee at mid off, Oli the bowler.

 

In the 15th Lee bowled Thorburn (3) & from the first ball of the next Sean c & b Hull-Denholm (8) as the ball swirled in the air on the leg side, 7 down for 93. Harrison (24, 13b, 1x4, 3x6)  attacked hitting two sixes off Lee & 6 & 4 off Tom but at 118 in the 18th he was bowled by Tom.

 

In the 19th with 20 to win, Longstaff (4) swung Lee to Sol on the mid wicket boundary, 9 down & from the first ball of the 20th Tom bowled Hay (1) leaving Gourley 9*, 132 all out, extras 3. A Bulls win by 11 runs, 3 wins from 3 matches in T20 group F, & on to the ¼ finals.
