The queues on the Tyne Bridge meant a delayed start & 12 overs/side in this ¼ final tie, max 3 overs per bowler. SNCC batted first; Ru Fletcher & Will Carr faced Ridley & Metcalf. 33-1 in the 4th over as Will Carr (14,10b, 2x4) was caught by Young in the deep off Metcalf. Ru plundered but at 44 in the 6th, attacking, was bowled by Adams for 27, (19b 2x4 1x6).

George McConnell hit 3x4 from 13 balls until he was bowled by M Sales for 17, 72-3 in the 8th. Tris (9*,11 b)  & Lunny 28* (13b 3x6, 1x4) maintained  the momentum with the Bulls finishing on 107-3 after their 12 over allocation.

Bill Quay's reply was a personal triumph for U15 Joe Dresser who took 5 wickets for 11 in 3 overs, took two catches, one off his own bowling & assisted with a run out. J Adams was first to go at 13 in the 2nd over when a push into the offside saw Lunny hit the non striker's stumps with a direct hit.

The third over, Joe's first, saw three wickets fall. Morris (14) skied a pull to mid wicket where Lunny took the catch. Ridley (4) edged a rising delivery to w/k Craig Manchester & Towns (0) driving, lost his off stump, 27-4.

In the 4th over Will Young induced Pritchard (5) to sky & took a good catch off his own bowling, 5 down. 29-6 in the next when M Adams (1) chipped back to Joe. 37-7 in the 7th as Robson (3), attacking, was bowled by Joe, a memorable 5 fer !!

Sales & Lockhart resisted & the total had reached 60 in the 11th bowled by George McConnell, when Lockhart (12) was run out from a Dresser throw from point to w/k Manchester. Will Carr bowled the last over & Metcalf (2) gave a catch to, who else, Joe at point. 71-9 at the close, a win by 36 runs.

Onward to the semi final against Whitburn at Burnmoor & if successful, a final against Ryhope, on the same day.

Well done to the team & especially to Joe on a night to remember for him.

Duncan.
