Gateshead Fell won by 10 runs.
SN won the toss & chose to field. Ravi Muthe & Tarum Sahanga faced the off spin of George Gray & the left arm seam of Finlay Pearce. Steady scoring saw the total rise to 24 after 6 overs when Will Young & Gregor Pearce entered the attack.
42 -0 after 10 overs but at 55 in the 12th Sahanga (9,) was bowled by a Gregor googly. In the 14th Shayan Khan's (ob) first & on debut, Bryan (6) was run out, failing to beat Gavin's throw from point, 66-2. In the 16th, Muthe (47) drove Shayan to mid off where George took a nice catch, 82-3.
The experienced Smith accelerated in the 18th , 90-3 but in the 19th Patrick bowled Lugsden (6), 97 -4. An important 12 runs off the last saw the Fell close at 109-4.
Some chances were not taken but overall the intensity in the field was good.
Patrick Hatcher & Belinda Wewalage faced the off spin of Sweeney & the seam of Sahanga. At 12 in the 5th Patrick (7) drove Sweeney to cover where Curran took the catch. At 25 in the 8th Belinda (9) drove to mid on.
At 31 in the 9th Gavin (5) was bowled by Smith, 30-3. At 36, one over later, George (6) was run out, a direct hit from square leg, 4 down. This became 48 -6 in the 13th as Smith claimed Jan Ozmen (5) lbw & then bowled Finlay Pearce (15).
Jacques & Ru put together a partnership of 24 before Jacques (14) was adjudged stumped after the ball from Elliott had bounced twice, 72-7 in the 16th. Ru (14) top edged a sweep off Walker in the next, 79-8.
Gregor (15*) attacked but in the 19th Will Young (1) was bowled by Smith. Shayan (4*) at the close on 99-9.
8 bowlers used, some nice cameos with the bat, so some good practice for many against a useful Fell team.
