NEPL T20 Group B number 2/3
Castle Eden 121-8 (20o) O'Neill 34, Wimpenny 33; Trevaskis 4-19, Tindale 2-12, Birtwisle 1-16, Wightman 1-19.
SNCC 122-4 (16.3o) Peyton 67*, Cragg 27; McGlasham 2-20.
Visiting Roseworth Terrace for the first time Castle Eden chose to bat. The SN preparation was somewhat curtailed due to a misunderstanding about the starting time & early, uncharacteristic fielding lapses helped openers Wimpenny & Irwin to 50 before Irwin was caught by Michael Craigs off Liam Trevaskis for 21.
Wimpenny was bowled by Birtwisle for 33 & two runs later, pro Saeed Bin Nasir lofted Trevaskis to long on where Adam Cragg held the catch, 65-3. McGlasham fell at the same score bowled by Trevaskis for 0. O'Neill was batting nicely but Ede perished at 83 also to Trevaskis, 4-19. Captain Brown was bowled by Wightman at 98 & the returning Tindale had Crute caught by Craigs for 4 & then ended O'Neill's innings when w/k Peyton caught him, 114-8. Gorham & Warner nudged the score to 121 after 20.
Simon Birtwisle & Rob Peyton took the reply to 25 before the first ball from impressive leg spinner Warner had Birty lbw for 8. McGlasham then had Liam Trevaskis caught behind for 1 & Alex Weetman bowled for 0, 26-3. Captain Adam Cragg joined Peyton, the latter being lucky to survive an earlier stumping chance off Warner on 2.
Cragg was busy, Peyton settled to play nicely & the total had reached 95 when Cragg (27) attacking, was bowled by Iceton. Tindale (8*) kept Peyton (67*) company & the winning runs came in the 17th over.
The third T20 group B game is away at Sacriston Friday 8th June.
