Tynemouth won by 29 runs.
A century partnership for the second wicket between Stewart & Morse sent Tynemouth on their way to victory in the James Bell tie. Both batted with intent & the efforts of the Bulls attack were thwarted. The opening wicket went down at 34 when Thorburn (22) was bowled by Sadiq. The second went to Gregor when Morse (42), was caught by Kush at 134.
The Bulls reply started well with James & Alex batting positively in an opening partnership of 62 when Alex (26) was lbw to Morse. James (36) followed 8 runs later bowled by Walton. Thereafter momentum dwindled, Chris Beever's leg breaks bemused as he took 4-9 in his 4 overs, bowling Sam & Nick & having Sadiq (0) & Jacob (15) caught. Mo (18*) enhanced the rate but to no avail. 125-6 after 20.
NEPL DIVISION 2, No 6, SAT 21ST MAY v Castle Eden (h) (50/50)

SNCC won by 108 runs - 20 points Castle Eden 3.
A second consecutive win for the 2's based on a dominant batting display with consistent scoring throughout. Three important partnerships between James & Nick, 56 for the 2 nd wicket, 98 for the third between Ru & Alex & an undefeated 73 for the 5th between Ru & Ryan, saw a commanding total built. Ru's 93* (94b, 11x4, 1x6) was the highlight supported by James 46 (3x4, 2x6), Nick 27 (54b, 3x4), Alex 38 (50b, 5x4, 1x6) & Ryan 18* (13b 2x4, 1x6).
After a disastrous first over that went for 20 including 13 wides, the Bulls gradually pulled it back. At 41, Iceton (12) was bowled by Allan. Sadiq (10-2-26-2) & James (9-3-28-3) bowled well. At 74 James Dunn (10) was caught by Sam Ewart off James & two runs later Taylor was bowled by James.
At 88, Martin Dunn (36) was lbw to Sadiq & at 90 Pennick (9) was bowled by James. Gotham (30) had resisted but fell at 115, caught by Allan off Sadiq, 6 down. Jacob picked up a wicket at 137-7 as Sam held an edge from Grant. Tudball (15) was bowled by Ru at 146 & one run later James ran out Nixon.
The end came at 157 in the 42nd as Nick's off spin accounted for Finn, lbw to his second delivery. A workmanlike team performance, solid batting, some good fielding & catches taken but 24 wides suggest there are things to work on, bowlers warming up effectively would be one of them. We must always strive to improve. Gary Player once said "The more I practice the luckier I get " !
The 2's next league match is v Chester le Street (h) on Sat 28th May.
