Haydon Bridge 101-7 (20o) Dan Kirkup 33, Jamie Taylor 19, Graeme Pigg 13, Alex Martin 19*: Gregor Pearce 1-28, Finlay Pearce 4-11, Will Young 0-21, Patrick Hatcher 0-5, Tom Oliver 1-17, Zac Henderson 1-15.

1864's won by 3 runs.

Always tough to travel to meet 2023 Division 1 champions but the 1864's overcame an injury to captain Patrick Hatcher, saw 3 wickets in a Finlay Pearce over which changed the game &, at the death, witnessed the courage of U15's Zac Henderson & lastly Tom Oliver in defending 5 to win from the last over to emerge victors by just 3 runs.

Against a predominantly right arm seam attack, the 1864's made steady progress Jan (11) & Will G (14) & Will Carr (19) all batted nicely on a slightly uncertain surface & took the score into the 50's.

Jack Patterson (4) & Jacques Graham (19) continued & Patrick (12) maintained the momentum with Finlay Pearce (14*) , Gregor (1), & Will Young 4* to be 107-7 at the end of 20 overs. Two wickets each for Stephenson (ob), Elliott & Kendrew.

Would it be enough? Two down early as Gregor bowled Cunningham (0) & Finlay had Kendrew (2) caught at long off by Will Young. A partnership between Kirkup & Taylor looked threatening until Finlay Pearce took three wickets in the 6th over accounting for Kirkup (33), Stephenson (0) & Elliott (0).

Pigg & Martin were moving steadily to the target with some 6's. Patrick was only able to bowl two overs as he injured his right shoulder so it was left to U15's Zac Henderson (rm) & Tom Oliver (lm) to bowl the last two overs & they responded magnificently.

Zac had Pigg (13) lbw in the 19th &, defending 5 to win in the last, Tom, pushing the ball across the right hander, took the wicket of Taylor (19) caught by Patrick one handed !! Finlay's 4-11, a most decisive spell.

A win by 3 runs !! C'est magnifique, mes amis!!
